Problem
A straight aluminium conductor of length 0.25m carries a steady current in a uniform magnetic field as described below.
(i) Calculate the force on the conductor when it carries a current of 8A and is held perpendicular to a magnetic field of flux density 0.40T.
(ii) The same conductor is now made to carry a current of 12A and turned so that it makes an angle of 60∘ with the magnetic field, whose strength remains unchanged. Calculate the new force acting on the conductor.
(iii) Determine the percentage change in the magnitude of the force when the conditions are changed from part (i) to part (ii).
