Problem

During a morning walk, a student follows three straight paths one after the other: 100 m100\,\text{m} east in 2 min2\,\text{min}, 60 m60\,\text{m} south in 1.5 min1.5\,\text{min}, and 100 m100\,\text{m} west in 2.5 min2.5\,\text{min}. (a) Find the total distance covered. (b) Determine the magnitude and direction of the net displacement from the starting point. (c) Calculate the average speed and the magnitude of the average velocity for the whole walk.
