Problem

A block of mass 0.50 kg0.50\,\text{kg} is attached to the end of a horizontal light spring. When set into oscillation, the block completes 4040 complete oscillations in 50 s50\,\text{s} on a friction-free surface. (i) Calculate the time taken for one complete oscillation. (ii) Determine the spring constant of the spring. (iii) If the same spring is now used with a block of mass 1.00 kg1.00\,\text{kg}, calculate the frequency of oscillation of the new system.
