In a laboratory experiment, a thin convex lens forms a sharp, real and inverted image of a candle placed on its principal axis.
• Height of candle (object) = 2.0 cm
• Height of image = 10.0 cm
• Distance of candle from the lens = 30 cm (measured from the optical centre)
Assume standard Cartesian sign convention.
(i) Calculate the linear magnification produced.
(ii) Determine the distance of the image from the lens.
(iii) Find the focal length of the lens.
(iv) State the nature and relative size of the image with respect to the object, justifying your answer from the values obtained.
