Problem

A sinusoidal sound wave travels along the +x+x direction with speed 300 m s−1300\,\text{m s}^{-1} and frequency 600 Hz600\,\text{Hz}. At t=0t = 0, the displacement at x=0x = 0 is zero and increasing in the positive direction. (i) Find the phase difference between the points x=0x = 0 and x=0.25 mx = 0.25\,\text{m} at t=0t = 0. (ii) Determine the smallest time after t=0t = 0 when the particle at x=0.25 mx = 0.25\,\text{m} will be in the same phase as the particle at x=0x = 0 was at t=0t = 0.
