Problem

A milk storage tank is made by welding a right circular cylindrical shell to two identical hemispherical caps. The internal diameter of every part is 1.4 m and the length of the cylindrical shell alone is 1.0 m. (i) Show that the capacity of the completely closed tank is about 2.982.98 m3^{3}. Express this capacity also in litres, correct to the nearest litre. (ii) The milk from the full tank is to be packed in cuboidal cartons of size 10 cm×7 cm×4 cm10\text{ cm} \times 7\text{ cm} \times 4\text{ cm}. How many complete cartons can be filled? (iii) During transfer, 2%2\% of the milk is spilt. Determine the number of complete cartons that can now be filled.
