Problem

A point charge +qs+q_{s} travels straight upward (toward the positive yy-direction) at speed vsv_{s}. At the instant considered, a point QQ lies on the same vertical line, located a distance ℓ\ell directly above the source charge. A small negative test charge located at QQ is given an instantaneous velocity due east. Neglect electric forces for this problem. (a) Determine the magnitude of the magnetic field at point QQ produced by the moving source charge. (b) Using your result from part (a), calculate the magnitude of the magnetic force on the test charge. (c) Would your answers to parts (a) and (b) change if the test charge’s initial velocity were changed to due west instead of due east? Explain briefly.
