Problem

Two simple pendulums PP and QQ are set up side by side. The length of QQ is four times the length of PP (LQ=4LP)(L_Q = 4L_P). Both pendulums oscillate with small amplitudes at the same place where g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m s}^{-2}. (a) Derive the ratio of their angular frequencies ωP:ωQ\omega_P : \omega_Q. (b) If pendulum QQ completes 150150 oscillations in a certain time interval, how many oscillations does pendulum PP complete in the same interval? (c) Given LP=0.50 mL_P = 0.50\,\text{m}, calculate the difference in the time taken by the two pendulums to complete 6060 oscillations each.
