Problem

For an angle xx, it is known that cot⁡x>0\cot x>0 and sec⁡x<0\sec x<0. (i) Determine all possible quadrants in which the terminal side of xx can lie. Justify your answer using the signs of the trigonometric ratios. (ii) If, in addition, tan⁡x=724\tan x=\dfrac{7}{24} and xx satisfies the conditions from part (i), calculate sin⁡x\sin x and cos⁡x\cos x. (iii) Using the results of part (ii), obtain sin⁡2x\sin 2x and cos⁡2x\cos 2x in simplest form.
