Problem

When a surface is irradiated with light of wavelength λ=4950 A˚\lambda=4950\ \text{\AA}, a photocurrent appears that vanishes if a retarding potential of 0.6 V0.6\ \text{V} is applied. When a different source of light is used, the critical retarding potential changes to 1.1 V1.1\ \text{V}. Find the work function of the emitting surface and the wavelength of the second source. If the photoelectrons after emission from the surface are subjected to a magnetic field of 10 T10\ \text{T}, what changes will be observed in the two retarding potentials?
