Problem

The positions of four successive compressions of a sound wave travelling in air are noted on a metre scale as 0.30 m0.30\,\text{m}, 0.65 m0.65\,\text{m}, 1.00 m1.00\,\text{m} and 1.35 m1.35\,\text{m}. (i) Determine the wavelength of the wave. (ii) During an experiment 15001500 compressions pass a fixed point in 5.0 s5.0\,\text{s}. Calculate the frequency of the wave. (iii) Using your answers from parts (i) and (ii), find the speed of this sound wave in air.
