Problem

Unpolarised light of intensity I0I_0 passes successively through three ideal Polaroids. The transmission axis of the first and the third Polaroid are perpendicular to each other. The transmission axis of the middle Polaroid is at 45∘45^{\circ} to that of each of the other two. The intensity of light emerging after the third Polaroid is (a) I04\dfrac{I_0}{4} (b) I08\dfrac{I_0}{8} (c) 00 (d) I016\dfrac{I_0}{16}
