Problem

During an experiment a student observes that a body attached to an ideal light spring moves with maximum speed 1.5 m s−11.5\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} when its displacement from equilibrium is zero. The amplitude of oscillation is measured to be 6.0 cm6.0\,\text{cm}. Assume the motion begins at t=0t=0 from the extreme position on the positive side. (i) Determine the angular frequency of oscillation. (ii) Using your result from part (i), calculate the time period TT of the motion. (iii) Find the displacement, velocity, and acceleration of the body at time t=T6t=\dfrac{T}{6}, clearly indicating the sign of each quantity.
