Problem

In an arithmetic progression, the ppth term is qq and the qqth term is pp, where p≠qp \ne q. (a) Form two equations in the first term aa and the common difference dd using the given information, and hence obtain the value of dd. (b) Using the value of dd, find the first term aa in terms of pp and qq. (c) Show that the (p+q)(p+q)th term of the progression is 0.
