Problem

Two 50.0 mL samples of 1.00 M HCl(aq) and 1.00 M NaOH(aq), each at 22.40 °C, are mixed in a coffee-cup calorimeter whose heat capacity is 145 J °C⁻¹. The density and specific heat capacity of all solutions are 1.00 g mL⁻¹ and 4.18 J g⁻¹ °C⁻¹, respectively. The maximum temperature observed is 27.52 °C. If only 92.0 % of the heat released is captured by the calorimeter–solution system, determine the enthalpy of neutralization per mole of water produced.
