Answer the following with respect to the term optical density.
(i) Define optical density of a medium.
(ii) State the relation between optical density, refractive index and speed of light in a medium.
(iii) The absolute refractive indices of air, water and crown glass are 1.00, 1.33 and 1.52 respectively. Arrange these three media in the increasing order of their optical density and give a brief reason for your answer.
