Problem

A runner starts at the south-west corner of a rectangular park that is 80 m80\,\text{m} long (east–west) and 60 m60\,\text{m} wide (north–south). She follows the boundary of the park in the following order: (a) Calculate the total distance covered by the runner. (b) Determine the magnitude and direction of the displacement of the runner from her starting point to her stopping point. (c) Find the total time taken for the entire run. (d) Using your answers above, compute (i) the average speed and (ii) the average velocity for the whole motion.
