Problem

A monochromatic light beam of frequency 5.0×10145.0\times10^{14} Hz emerges from a glass prism into the surrounding air. Take the speed of light in vacuum as 3.0×1083.0\times10^{8} m s⁻¹ and the refractive index of the glass as 1.5. (i) Calculate the speed of light inside the glass. (ii) Determine the wavelength of the light while it is inside the glass. (iii) Find the wavelength of the same light after it has entered the air.
