Problem

A hydrogen atom in its ground state is excited by monochromatic radiation. Its resulting spectrum has six different lines. These radiations are incident on a metal plate, and only two produce the photoelectric effect. If the ratio of the maximum kinetic energies of the photoelectrons in the two cases is 55, find the work function of the metal.
