Problem

A 250 g250\,\text{g} mass attached to a horizontal spring of force constant 100 N m−1100\,\text{N}\,\text{m}^{-1} executes SHM with amplitude 8.0 cm8.0\,\text{cm}. The block is released from the extreme position at t=0t=0. (i) At what displacement from the mean position will the kinetic energy equal the potential energy? (ii) Find the displacement at which the kinetic energy is 75%75\% of the total mechanical energy. (iii) Calculate the speed of the block at each of the two displacements obtained in parts (i) and (ii).
