Problem

A tuning fork AA of unknown frequency, when sounded with a standard 256 Hz fork, produces 4 beats per second. After a small piece of wax is attached to one prong of AA, the beat rate rises to 6 beats s−1^{-1}. The frequency of fork AA before loading is (a) 262 Hz262\ \text{Hz} (b) 260 Hz260\ \text{Hz} (c) 252 Hz252\ \text{Hz} (d) 256 Hz256\ \text{Hz}
