Problem

Consider the quadratic polynomial y=(k−2)x2+4x+ky=(k-2)x^{2}+4x+k, where kk is a real parameter. (a) Find the condition on kk for which the graph of the polynomial has exactly one xx-intercept. (b) Find the condition on kk for which the graph has no xx-intercepts. (c) For a value of kk that satisfies the condition in part (i), determine the xx-coordinate of the single xx-intercept.
