Problem

A laboratory inertial balance has a force constant of 15 N m−115\,\text{N\,m}^{-1}. An unknown body mounted on it performs small oscillations of period 0.90 s0.90\,\text{s}. The same body shows a reading of 3.10 N3.10\,\text{N} on a spring balance at a place where g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m\,s}^{-2}. Calculate: (i) the mass of the body obtained from the inertial balance, (ii) the percentage difference between this value and the mass obtained from the spring balance.
