Problem

A baby bouncer is a harness attached to two lengths of elastic cord. It enables a baby to bounce up and down gently in SHM. A one-year-old baby of mass 10 kg is placed in the harness. The elastic cords stretch from 1.2 m to 1.4 m. (a) Using g=10 Nkg−1g = 10 \text{ Nkg}^{-1} , show that the time period of the vertical oscillations of the baby is just less than 1 s. (b) If the amplitude of the baby's oscillations is 20 cm, i determine the maximum velocity of the baby. ii show that the maximum acceleration of the baby is about the same value as that caused by gravity.
