Problem

A particle moves along a line with velocity v(t)=t2−4t+3v(t)=t^{2}-4t+3, where vv is measured in meters per second and tt in seconds. The motion is observed for 0≤t≤40\le t\le 4. (a) Calculate the particle’s net displacement over the interval 0≤t≤40\le t\le 4. (b) Determine the total distance traveled by the particle on the same interval. (c) Interpret the numerical difference between your answers in parts (a) and (b) in terms of the particle’s change of direction.
