Problem

A simple pendulum has a time period of 2.5 s2.5\,\text{s} at sea level on Earth where g=9.80 m s−2g = 9.80\,\text{m s}^{-2}. The same pendulum is taken to the Moon where g=1.62 m s−2g = 1.62\,\text{m s}^{-2}. Answer the following: (i) Determine the length of the pendulum on Earth. (ii) Calculate its time period on the Moon. (iii) To bring its period back to 2.5 s2.5\,\text{s} on the Moon, by what percentage should its length be changed? State whether the length should be increased or decreased.
