Problem

A particle of mass 1×10−26 kg1\times10^{-26}\,\mathrm{kg} and charge +1.6×10−19 C+1.6\times10^{-19}\,\mathrm{C}, travelling with a velocity of 1.28×106 m s−11.28\times10^6\,\mathrm{m\,s^{-1}} along the positive xx-axis, enters a region in which a uniform electric field E\mathbf{E} and a uniform magnetic field B\mathbf{B} are present such that Ez=−102.4 kV m−1E_z=-102.4\,\mathrm{kV\,m^{-1}} and By=8×10−2 Wb m−2B_y=8\times10^{-2}\,\mathrm{Wb\,m^{-2}}. The particle enters this region at the origin at time t=0t=0. Then, (a) Net force acts on the particle along the positive zz-direction. (b) Net force acts on the particle along the negative zz-direction. (c) Net force acting on the particle is zero. (d) Net force acts in the xzxz-plane.
