Problem

Ravi starts from his home and follows the path shown below: – He first walks 120 m120\,\text{m} due south. – He then turns and walks 70 m70\,\text{m} due east. – Finally he walks 50 m50\,\text{m} due north and stops. Answer the following: (a) Calculate the total distance travelled by Ravi. (b) Determine the magnitude of Ravi’s net displacement from his home. (c) Show, using the numerical values obtained in (a) and (b), that the usual relation between distance and displacement is satisfied for Ravi’s walk. Write this relation explicitly in your answer.
