Problem

For the vectors a=2i^−j^+3k^\mathbf{a}=2\hat{i}-\hat{j}+3\hat{k}, b=−i^+4j^+2k^\mathbf{b}=-\hat{i}+4\hat{j}+2\hat{k} and c=3i^+2j^−5k^\mathbf{c}=3\hat{i}+2\hat{j}-5\hat{k}: (i) Calculate (a+b)+c(\mathbf{a}+\mathbf{b})+\mathbf{c}. (ii) Calculate a+(b+c)\mathbf{a}+(\mathbf{b}+\mathbf{c}). (iii) Compare the answers obtained in (i) and (ii) and state the property verified. (iv) Compute a+b\mathbf{a}+\mathbf{b} and b+a\mathbf{b}+\mathbf{a}, then identify the property demonstrated.
