Problem

Two simple pendulums, P and Q, have lengths L1=50 cmL_1 = 50\,\text{cm} and L2=120 cmL_2 = 120\,\text{cm} respectively. Each is set oscillating with the same small angular amplitude of 4.0∘4.0^{\circ}. (a) Show that the ratio of their maximum linear displacements is equal to the ratio of their lengths. (b) Hence calculate the difference between the linear amplitudes of P and Q, expressing your answer in centimetres to two significant figures.
