Problem

In a certain school, events AA and BB are defined as follows: A=A = "a randomly chosen student studies Mathematics", B=B = "the same student participates in the school debate club". It is known that P(A)=0.70P(A) = 0.70 and P(A∩B)=0.35P(A \cap B) = 0.35. Assuming that AA and BB are independent, answer the following. (i) Determine P(B)P(B). (ii) Find the probability that the student studies Mathematics but does not participate in the debate club. (iii) Compute the probability that the student participates in the debate club but does not study Mathematics. (iv) Hence calculate the probability that the student does not study Mathematics and also does not participate in the debate club.
