Problem

For an angle θ\theta it is given that tan⁡θ=34\tan \theta = \dfrac{3}{4} and that θ\theta lies in the third quadrant. (i) Determine the exact values of sin⁡θ\sin \theta and cos⁡θ\cos \theta. (ii) Hence find csc⁡θ,  sec⁡θ\csc \theta,\; \sec \theta and cot⁡θ\cot \theta. (iii) Using the results obtained, verify numerically that sin⁡2 ⁣θ+cos⁡2 ⁣θ=1\sin ^2\!\theta + \cos ^2\!\theta = 1.
