Problem

A student sets up a simple pendulum in the laboratory. The length of the pendulum (measured from the point of suspension to the centre of the bob) is 1.24 m1.24\,\text{m}. Using a stop-watch, the time recorded for 3030 complete oscillations is 68.2 s68.2\,\text{s}. (i) Calculate the time period of the pendulum. (ii) Using the above data, determine the value of the acceleration due to gravity at the place of experiment, expressing your answer correct to three significant figures.
