(Laboratory Verification)
During a classroom experiment to verify a law of reflection, a plane mirror is fixed upright on a drawing board. Three optical pins P, Q and R are used to trace the path of a light ray that strikes the mirror at point O and gets reflected.
(a) Write the step-by-step procedure you would follow with the three pins to show that the incident ray, the normal and the reflected ray lie in one plane.
(b) State the observations you would record if the law is obeyed.
(c) If the pin representing the incident ray is lifted 3 cm above the board while the others remain inserted, explain why the verification will fail.
