Problem

A particle of amplitude AA executes simple harmonic motion. (i) Show that if its kinetic energy is nn times its potential energy at some instant, the magnitude of displacement from the mean position is x=An+1x=\dfrac{A}{\sqrt{n+1}}. (ii) Hence, find the displacement as a fraction of AA when the kinetic energy is three times the potential energy.
