A rifle of mass 4.0kg fires a 20g bullet horizontally. The bullet leaves the muzzle with a speed of 400ms−1. Neglect external forces during the short firing interval.
(i) Calculate the magnitude of the impulse imparted to the bullet.
(ii) Determine the recoil velocity acquired by the rifle.
(iii) What is the magnitude of the impulse experienced by the rifle? Compare it with the value obtained in part (i).
