Problem

Let AA and BB be any two events defined on the same sample space. (i) State the definition of the conditional probability P(A∣B)P(A\mid B). (ii) Prove that if AA and BB are independent events, then P(A∣B)=P(A)P(A\mid B)=P(A). (iii) A fair die is thrown once. Let AA be the event that an even number appears and BB be the event that the number obtained is greater than 33. Calculate P(A)P(A), P(B)P(B) and P(A∩B)P(A\cap B), and hence verify whether AA and BB are independent.
