Problem

A 2.0 kg2.0\,\text{kg} mass is attached to an ideal spring of force constant 100 N m−1100\,\text{N\,m}^{-1}. The system has total mechanical energy 0.50 J0.50\,\text{J}. At t=0t=0, the mass is at x=0.040 mx = 0.040\,\text{m} to the right of equilibrium and is moving toward the origin with speed 0.65 m s−10.65\,\text{m s}^{-1}. For the motion x(t)=Acos⁡(ωt+ϕ)x(t)=A\cos(\omega t + \phi), determine: (i) the amplitude AA, and (ii) the initial phase constant ϕ\phi (principal value in rad).
