Problem

For a particle performing simple harmonic motion of amplitude AA, the ratio of its kinetic energy to potential energy is observed to be nn at a certain displacement xx from the mean position. (a) Derive an expression for xA\dfrac{x}{A} in terms of the ratio nn. (b) Using the result of part (a), find xA\dfrac{x}{A} when n=5n = 5. (c) At this displacement, determine the percentages of kinetic and potential energies in the total mechanical energy.
