Problem

A car covers three successive parts of a journey as follows: • First 30 min30\,\text{min} at a steady speed of 54 km/h54\,\text{km/h}, • Next 900 s900\,\text{s} at a steady speed of 20 m/s20\,\text{m/s}, • Finally 0.25 h0.25\,\text{h} at a steady speed of 45 km/h45\,\text{km/h}. Use this information to answer the questions below. (i) Convert all three given speeds to a single common unit of your choice and state that unit clearly. (ii) Calculate the distance travelled in each part and hence find the total distance covered. (iii) Compute the average speed of the car for the whole journey in both km/h\text{km/h} and m/s\text{m/s}, correct to one decimal place.
