Problem

A string is held under tension, with both ends fixed, and has a first harmonic frequency of 250 Hz. The speed of a transverse wave on a string is given by V=TμV = \sqrt{\frac{T}{\mu}} where TT is the tension. (1) By finding the units of the quantity μ\mu, identify μ\mu. (2) The tension in the string is doubled. Predict the new frequency of the first harmonic.
