Problem

ΔPQR\Delta PQR is similar to ΔXYZ\Delta XYZ with the correspondence P↔XP \leftrightarrow X, Q↔YQ \leftrightarrow Y and R↔ZR \leftrightarrow Z. The side lengths are: PQ=3x−4PQ = 3x - 4, QR=2x+1QR = 2x + 1, PR=3xPR = 3x, XY=6XY = 6, XZ=9XZ = 9, YZ=yYZ = y. (i) Write two appropriate ratios of corresponding sides and hence obtain an equation in xx. (ii) Solve the equation to find the value of xx. (iii) Using the value of xx, determine the length yy.
