Problem

Ball A of mass 0.50 kg0.50\,\text{kg} slides at 3.0 m/s3.0\,\text{m/s} on a horizontal frictionless surface and collides elastically with identical ball B that is initially at rest. Immediately after, ball B collides and sticks to a 1.0 kg1.0\,\text{kg} block C that was also at rest on the same surface. Calculate the speed of the combined B–C object after the second collision.
