Problem

A patient is injected with a medical tracer that has an initial activity of 2.5 MBq2.5\,\text{MBq}. The tracer has a half-life of 6.0 h6.0\,\text{h}. Each decay releases 0.35 MeV0.35\,\text{MeV} of energy which is fully absorbed by the patient. (i) Calculate the total number of disintegrations that occur in the first 30 min30\,\text{min} after injection. (ii) Determine the total energy absorbed (in joule) in this interval. (iii) Hence find the average power deposited in the patient’s body during these 30 min30\,\text{min}.
