Problem

An acute angle θ\theta satisfies tan⁡θ=2k+13\tan\theta = \dfrac{2k + 1}{3}, where kk is a real parameter. Answer the following questions. (i) Derive expressions for sin⁡θ\sin\theta and cos⁡θ\cos\theta in terms of kk, leaving each in simplest radical form. (ii) If cos⁡θ=534\cos\theta = \dfrac{5}{\sqrt{34}}, determine the value of kk. (iii) Using the value of kk found in part (ii), state sin⁡θ\sin\theta and verify that sin⁡2θ+cos⁡2θ=1\sin^{2}\theta + \cos^{2}\theta = 1.
