Problem

A fire truck’s siren has a rest frequency of 700 Hz. The truck travels in a straight line directly toward a stationary listener at 20 m/s and then directly away at the same speed after passing. The speed of sound is 343 m/s. Determine the frequency heard by the listener just before the truck reaches the listener and just after it has passed.
