Problem

A concave mirror and a convex lens each have a focal length of 15 cm15\,\text{cm}. An object 3 cm3\,\text{cm} high is placed on the principal axis at a distance of 30 cm30\,\text{cm} from each optical device. (a) For the concave mirror, calculate: (i) the position of the image, (ii) the nature of the image (real or virtual, erect or inverted), (iii) the height of the image. (b) Repeat the above calculations for the convex lens. (c) Compare the two sets of results obtained in parts (a) and (b). Give a reason for any difference in the nature or size of the images, although the focal length and object distance are the same for both devices.
