Problem

In a simple harmonic motion of amplitude AA, let the instantaneous kinetic energy KK be nn times the instantaneous potential energy UU. (a) Derive, in terms of nn, an expression for the displacement xx (measured from the mean position) at which this condition holds. (b) Using the result of part (a), find the displacement when n=3n = 3. (c) For a block of mass 0.20 kg0.20\,\text{kg} attached to a spring of force constant 150 N m−1150\,\text{N}\,\text{m}^{-1} executing SHM with amplitude 0.12 m0.12\,\text{m}, calculate the kinetic energy and the speed of the block at the displacement obtained in part (b).
