Problem

During a particular β−\beta^{-} decay, a detector registers an electron but no other charged particles. Determine whether an antineutrino must have been emitted to satisfy conservation laws, and identify which one or more of the following quantities would not be conserved if the antineutrino were absent: charge, lepton number, or energy–momentum.
