Problem

An asteroid orbits the Sun in an ellipse of eccentricity 0.450.45. At perihelion it is 1.1×1011 m1.1\times10^{11}\,\text{m} from the Sun and its speed there is 52 km s−152\,\text{km}\,\text{s}^{-1}. (i) Find the semi-major axis of the orbit. (ii) Calculate the speed of the asteroid at aphelion.
